WBJEE Counselling 2026 Round 2 – Quick Overview
WBJEE 2026 Counselling: Important Dates
WBJEEB is conducting WBJEE 2026 counselling in three rounds – Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3 (Mop-Up). The table below lists the full schedule as reported in the official counselling notification and confirmed across WBJEEB’s public updates.
These dates are as per the official WBJEEB counselling schedule available at wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEEB can revise dates at short notice, so candidates should keep checking the official website for updates.
Who Can Register for WBJEE Round 2 Counselling?
Round 2 is open to more than one category of candidate:
- Candidates who accepted a Round 1 seat under “Upgradation Yes”: They keep their current seat but can revise their choice list to try for a better college or branch in Round 2.
- Candidates who did not get any seat in Round 1: They can register afresh and fill choices during the July 13-17 window without paying an additional counselling registration fee, since this fee is charged only once per counselling cycle.
- Candidates who did not register at all for Round 1: Fresh registration is accepted in Round 2, provided they hold a valid WBJEE 2026 rank (General Merit Rank or Category Merit Rank) or a valid JEE Main 2026 score for the applicable quota.
Candidates who accepted their Round 1 seat as “Freeze” (final, no upgradation) are generally not required to participate further, as their admission is already confirmed. Candidates who withdrew from counselling at an earlier stage are not eligible to re-enter – this restriction is explicitly stated for Round 3; candidates should confirm the exact Round 2 re-entry rule for their specific case in the official notification, as WBJEEB’s category-wise rules can vary.
Eligibility for WBJEE Counselling 2026
- Candidates must hold a valid WBJEE 2026 General Merit Rank (GMR) or Category Merit Rank (CMR) to apply for both State Quota and All India Quota seats.
- Candidates with a valid JEE Main 2026 score but no WBJEE 2026 rank can apply only for the All India Quota seats reserved for JEE Main candidates in self-financing institutes. The exact percentage of seats reserved under this quota is not consistently confirmed across sources – candidates should verify the precise figure in the official WBJEE 2026 counselling notification.
- Candidates who did not qualify WBJEE 2026 (did not receive a rank) are not eligible for WBJEE counselling.
WBJEE Counselling 2026 Fee Details
Both fees can be paid online via net banking, debit card, or credit card. Refund conditions for the seat acceptance fee vary depending on the stage and reason for withdrawal – some sources describe it as conditionally refundable and others as non-refundable outside specific windows. Candidates should not assume automatic refund and must check the exact refund clause in the official WBJEEB counselling notification before withdrawing.
How to Register and Fill Choices for WBJEE Round 2
- Go to the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in, and open the Candidate Activity Board.
- Log in using your WBJEE 2026 application number and date of birth (or password, as applicable to your registration status).
- If registering fresh for Round 2, complete your registration and verify your personal and academic details.
- Open the Choice Filling section and browse available colleges by district, institute, or branch. Use the seat matrix to check seat availability before finalising choices.
- Add or reorder college-and-course combinations in your order of preference. Candidates already holding a Round 1 seat under “Upgradation Yes” can revise this list to aim for a better option.
- Fill a wide range of choices – WBJEEB advises filling at least 15-20 choices, spread across different institutes and branches, to improve your chances of allotment.
- Review your final preference order carefully and lock your choices before the Round 2 deadline of July 17, 2026. Choices not locked in time may be auto-locked by the system based on the last saved list, but candidates should not rely on this and should lock manually well before the deadline.
- Take a printout of your locked choice list for your records.
WBJEE Round 2 Seat Allotment and Acceptance Process
- The Round 2 seat allotment result will be published on July 21, 2026, on the WBJEEB portal. No allotment letters are sent by post or courier.
- Log in to the Candidate Activity Board on the result date to check your allotment status.
- If allotted a seat, you must choose one of the standard options – accept and freeze the seat, accept and opt for further upgradation, or take no action (which results in forfeiture of the seat for the current cycle).
- To confirm the seat, pay the ₹5,000 seat acceptance fee online within the July 21-23, 2026 window.
- After paying the fee, report in person to the allotted institute within the same window for physical document verification.
- If a candidate already holding a Round 1 seat is allotted a better option in Round 2, the Round 1 seat is automatically vacated in favour of the new Round 2 allotment.
Documents Required for Reporting at the Allotted Institute
Carry both originals and self-attested photocopies of the following documents when reporting for verification:
- WBJEE 2026 rank card (downloaded from wbjeeb.nic.in)
- Provisional seat allotment letter (downloaded after fee payment)
- Admit card of WBJEE 2026
- Class 10 admit card or birth certificate (for date of birth proof)
- Class 12 / HS mark sheet and pass certificate
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/EWS), issued by the competent authority, if applicable
- West Bengal domicile or residential certificate, where applicable for state-quota seats
- PwD certificate from an authorised medical board, if applicable
- Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) certificate, if applicable
- A valid photo ID such as Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or Passport
- Recent passport-size photographs (number as specified by the allotted institute)
Carrying an incomplete document set can result in cancellation of your seat, even if the acceptance fee has already been paid. Always check the allotted institute’s specific reporting instructions, as daily reporting timings can vary by campus.

Important Instructions for WBJEE Round 2 Candidates
- Use a stable internet connection while filling or locking choices – session timeouts can cause unsaved changes to be lost.
- Choice filling and locking is the most critical step in the process; your final locked list directly determines your allotment.
- Do not wait until the last day to lock choices, since portal traffic tends to peak close to the deadline.
- Check the official seat matrix before finalising your preference order, as seat availability changes between rounds due to upgradation and vacated seats.
- Missing the acceptance-fee or reporting deadline in any round leads to automatic forfeiture of the allotted seat, with no provision to appeal.
- Regularly check wbjeeb.nic.in, since WBJEEB may revise dates or issue additional notices during the counselling period.
