SBI PO Recruitment 2026 – 1500 Probationary Officer Posts

State Bank of India (SBI) has announced 1500 Probationary Officer (PO) vacancies (1446 regular + 54 backlog) under Advertisement No. CRPD/PO/2026-27/09. Online registration is open from 18 June 2026 to 8 July 2026. Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline (as on 30 September 2026) + age 21–30 years (as on 01 April 2026; born 02 April 1996–01 April 2005). Age relaxation: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD 10–15 years. Application fee: ₹750 (UR/EWS/OBC); Nil (SC/ST/PwBD). Selection process: Prelims (100 marks, 1 hour) → Mains (230 marks, 3.5 hours) → Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview (50 marks).

Only Mains and Interview marks count for final merit (normalised to 100). Unique requirement: minimum CIBIL score with no loan/credit card defaults (regularise before joining). Salary: Starting basic ₹48,480 (JMGS-I scale) + allowances; approximate CTC (Mumbai): ₹21.97 Lakhs per annum. Probation: 2 years + 3-year service bond (₹2 Lakhs). Category-wise vacancies: UR 588, OBC 390, SC 234, ST 144, EWS 144; PwBD 61 (VI 15, HI 16, LD 14, d&e 16). Vacancy Details – Category-wise Breakdown

PwBD Horizontal Reservation

15 PwBD vacancies for VI, 16 for HI, 14 for LD, and 16 for combined “d&e” category (Autism Spectrum Disorder-Mild, Mental Illness, Multiple Disabilities).

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (As on 01 April 2026)

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years
• Born Between: 02 April 1996 and 01 April 2005 (both inclusive)

Age Relaxation

Cumulative age relaxation across multiple categories is not permitted.

Educational Qualification (As on 30 September 2026)

• Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university OR equivalent qualification recognised by Central Government
• Final-year/final-semester students can apply provisionally, but must produce proof of passing on or before 30 September 2026 if shortlisted for interview
• Candidates with professional qualifications (Medical, Engineering, CA, Cost Accountancy) or Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) passed by cut-off date are also eligible

Number of Attempts (Appearing in Main Exam counts as one attempt)

Appearing only in Preliminary Exam does not count as an attempt.

Application Fee

Fee is non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to any other examination.

CIBIL Score Requirement (Unique Eligibility Condition)

• Candidates who have defaulted on loan/NBFC/financial institution repayments (including credit card dues) with adverse credit history in CIBIL must regularise/repay all outstanding dues on or before joining date
• If adverse status not updated in CIBIL by joining date, candidate must either:

  • Get status updated in CIBIL records
  • OR produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) from lender confirming no outstanding dues

• Failure to do so will render candidate ineligible and appointment offer will be withdrawn
• Check CIBIL score before applying

Selection Process

Three-phase selection process: Phase-I Prelims → Phase-II Mains → Phase-III Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview. Only Phase-II and Phase-III marks count for final merit list.

Phase-I: Preliminary Exam Pattern

• Online objective test, 100 marks, 1 hour duration
• No sectional cut-off in Prelims
• Category-wise merit list based on aggregate score
• Approximately 10 times vacancies per category shortlisted for Mains
• 1/4th mark deduction for every wrong answer (no penalty for unattempted)

Phase-II: Main Exam Pattern

• Online exam: Objective Test (200 marks) + Descriptive Test (30 marks)
• Descriptive paper administered immediately after objective test (type answers on computer)
• Minimum qualifying marks in every section including descriptive paper (sectional cut-offs by Bank)
• Category-wise merit list from aggregate Mains score
• Approximately 3 times category-wise vacancies shortlisted for Phase-III
• 1/4th mark deduction for wrong answers (no penalty for unattempted)

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview

• Psychometric Test: Personality profiling (all questions mandatory; findings shared with interview panel)
• Group Exercise: 20 marks
• Personal Interview: 30 marks
• Total Phase-III: 50 marks
• Minimum qualifying score: 60% (General), 55% (Reserved)

Final Merit List (Marks Normalised to 100)

• Preliminary Exam marks not added to final merit list
• Tie-breaking rule: Older candidate (by date of birth) ranked higher

SBI PO Salary 2026

• Starting Basic Pay: ₹48,480 + 4 advance increments
• Pay Scale: JMGS-I (48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920)
• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund, NPS, Leave Fare Concession (LFC), medical facilities, lease rental facility
• Approximate CTC (Mumbai Centre): ₹21.97 Lakhs per annum

Joining, Bond & Probation

• Pre-joining: Complete basic banking knowledge online course
• Probation Period: 2 years with continuous performance assessment
• Service Bond: ₹2.00 Lakhs — commit to serve Bank for minimum 3 years; bond invoked if resigned before 3 years
• Confirmation: Officers clearing probation assessment standards confirmed in JMGS-I
• Promotion Path: High-performing officers can reach senior/top management grades, including international postings

• Valid photo ID proof: Passport, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter’s ID, or Bank Passbook with attested photograph + self-attested photocopy
• Valid Aadhaar card mandatory (SBI conducts online Aadhaar verification at multiple stages)
• Biometric verification (photo + thumb impression/IRIS scan) may be carried out

For Main Exam Specifically

• Authenticated Original Preliminary Exam Call Letter + authenticated ID proof copy
